Beatriz Rico

Beatriz Rico's painting arises from abstraction, from her thoughts, from her concept of art and life.

 

She is an intimate painter, an artist of the interior, of reflective introspection on her own being, but at the same time she receives, with her peculiar sensitivity, the images of the world that surrounds her. She is aware of the chaos of the world and of her own individual chaos, and thus seeks calm. With concentration, order and plastic elaboration, she reaches abstraction in diptychs and polyptychs that show the brushstroke from its very origin, the paint stain and the colour are an aesthetic category through which different experiences of the human being immersed in a hostile physical environment are expressed.

 

Despite the spontaneous appearance in the configuration or arrangement of some of the elements in her works, these have been the object of painstaking study by the painter. She not only moves in the world of geometric abstract forms, but also with figuration and organic forms in close conjunction. Moreover, she does so consciously, seeking a permanent dialogue between both styles, with a permanent play of lines and bars, studs and shadows, textures of materials and insinuated silhouettes that force the spectator to investigate the ultimate meaning of her compositions.
