Damiá Jordá

Damià Jordà (Alcoy, 1982)

Damià JordàPh.D. in Arts: Production and Research.

Master in Visual Arts and Multimedia by the Universitat Politècnica de València.

His professional career develops between artistic production, teaching, and researching. Currently, he is an Associate Professor at Miguel Hernández University and a Coordinator of Research and Innovation at the Barreria A+D Higher Education Centre. His artistic career focuses exclusively on audiovisual languages; on the connection that links video art with experimental and author cinema.

The main characteristic of the work of Damiá Jordá is the search for different forms of narratives via creating essays and visual poems with cinematographic influence and via multimedia installations that proposes reflect on our physical relationship with the audiovisual image. Most of his works are developed from ethnographic research, using images to reveal the link between our environment, the media, and contemporary social rituals.

Among the more than fifty exhibitions in his curriculum, we could highlight the monographic exhibition held in 2018 at IVAM (Alcoi) under the title "Paisajes Encontrados", his participation in the group exhibition "Wege Ums Kino" in Berlin, his inclusion in the Official Section of the International Video Art Festival of Camagüey (Cuba), and the International Video Art Festival of Athens. His work has been acquired in important collections, such as the Contemporary Art Collection of the Generalitat Valenciana.
