Paloma Orts Pascual (Alcoy 1990).

Paloma is a transdisciplinary artist who combines artistic actions and plastic arts; seeking the beauty of an image, of action, and its relationship with the subconscious, individual and collective.

Paloma´s artistic world began when she was little. She started with classical music, specializing and graduating at age 18 in piano-forte. Likewise, she began her studies in painting, and this led her to study Fine Arts. First at UAL in London, and later at UMH (in Altea, and in the University of Barcelona.

Her studies in London opened Paloma's mind to 'Conceptual Art', migrating from painting to 'Action Painting', and consequently to performance and video art.
In Barcelona, she was introduced to archival art, which will allow her to move between the creation of artistic actions and the recording of daily actions, filing personal and collective memories in author's books.

Paloma was selected and awarded by the 2020 Biennial of Women in Visual Arts and was awarded the ‘Premios Ciutat d’Alcoi Llançadora’ in 2021.

In addition, through the curator and teacher of performance-art, Assumpta Bassas, she will begin to work collectively, investigating action art in groups such as BASURA (Girona), HER (Rotterdam), Topia (Barcelona), Perfoamar (Hospitalet), etc.

At the same time, her individual works will be shown at Festivals such as "La Muga Caula" (Figueres) with "Mareta", "Month of Performance arte" (Berlin) with Bubble and "22 Cubic" (Hospitalet de Llobregat) with "Inhabiting Caminos", etc. .

She will also collaborate for years with the artist Ada Vilaró, performing works of a community nature in Festivals such as Santiago-Off (Chile) with "Latidos" or the inauguration of the Tàrrega Fair Festival with "urgentestimar". Moved by the similarity between ritualistic practices and the art of action, she will travel to the Andes of Peru, introducing herself in ancestral medicine, which will allow her to visualize, more deeply, the subconscious and the need to work them collectively, through community rites .

Thanks to this, she will create and direct the play XIII, a community performance in which 13 women perform the traffic of life in death, and death in life. This piece premiered in the valleys of her homeland and later at the IVAM-CADA in Alcoy, likewise, it was selected and awarded by the 2020 Biennial of Women in Visual Arts.
